Disclaimer: I used AI to help make the 2D assets in this game, but not the 3D models where I spent most of development on. This is a prototype, but I hope to work with artists to make the future game better in every way.

---

You are a tiny maintenance daemon inside a failing machine. The system is unstable, the build is broken, and the only way forward is to recover lost patches scattered through the computer’s inner world.

Patch Notes is a browser-playable prototype that shifts between 2D side-scrolling and 3D top-down exploration. As you collect upgrades, the game itself changes: new controls unlock, the visuals evolve, and old obstacles become solvable in new ways.

This is a prototype build, focused on the core idea: what if “patch notes” were not just update text, but the actual mechanics you install while playing?

Features

  • Switch between 2D side-scroller and 3D top-down play
  • Collect patch upgrades that unlock new mechanics
  • Jump, dash with Overclock, and fire Debugger shots
  • Sprite Driver mode changes the 2D visual style
  • Explore three short prototype levels
  • Original music and dimension-aware sound effects
  • Play inside a stylized computer world of circuits, ports, gates, lasers, and broken systems

Controls

  • Move: WASD or arrow keys
  • Interact: E
  • Jump: Space
  • Dimension switch: K
  • Sprite Driver: V
  • Overclock dash: Shift
  • Debugger shot: F
  • Controls/help: / or ?
  • Pause: Esc
  • Zoom camera: mouse wheel

Some controls unlock as you collect patches.

Prototype Note
Patch Notes is still in prototype form. It is short, experimental, and actively being improved. If you play it, feedback is very welcome: what felt fun, what was confusing, and what you’d want to see next.
